Liviu Pop

Liviu Pop, researcher at the Folklore Archive Institute of the Romania Academy, Cluj-Napoca, on “Bewildering Technologies”.

How did French looms influence computers? Who was the world’s first female programmer? What does the first ever recorded song sound like? What did ancient GIFs look like? Where did the first Luddites appear? We’ll explore the achievements and shortcomings of technologies and the bewilderment they cause.
The lecture will be followed by the presentation of the projects of the DigiHUBB center (https://centre.digihubb.ubbcluj.ro) and debates on the establishment of a digital ecosystem in Cluj. Free entry, but limited places.
