We invite you to discover another sub-field of Digital Humanities!
This time it’s about a digital history project carried out by colleagues from the University of Bucharest and presented at the Babeș-Bolyai University at the Digital Humanities Centre – DigiHUBB.
Our three guests are:
Dr. Corina Doboș (University of Bucharest, research assistant)
Dr. Dumitru Lăcătușu (University of Bucharest, research assistant)
Dr. Bogdan Tăut (soft-developer)
The main objective of the ANDCO project (www.andco.ro) is the digitization of the information contained in the personal files of members, sympathizers, conspirators and “road companions” of the Communist Party of Romania during the illegal period (1924-1944), with the aim of “reconstructing” this “unidentified body” of members of the Communist Party of Romania. The information will be integrated into a searchable, online, freely accessible, prospectographic database.
This database (with related applications) will be an indispensable working tool for all those interested in Romania’s inter-war history in general and in the dynamics of an outlawed party in particular.
With a developed educational potential, this digital working tool, freely available online, will address not only the scientific community but also the general public.
The final version of the tool will be available in 3-4 months. In the meantime, our guests are keen to receive feedback from the public (informed and general) and to observe their reactions, as the ultimate goal is to create an interactive working tool that will bring historical research closer to the widest possible audience.
Research project Members, sympathizers, conspirators and “fellow travelers”. Componența Parti Parti Communist din România în perioada ilegalității – studii prosopografice is funded by the National Council for Scientific Research, CNCS-UEFISCDI, Grant No. PN-II-PCE-2012-4-0594
